To manage VPN usage on student devices effectively, ensure you have an active subscription to Filter and access to the Policy Manager. Within the Policy Management section, you can select a specific policy and configure its Applications and Protocols settings. This allows you to choose how VPNs are handled—whether to ignore, monitor, isolate, or block them entirely. You can also streamline setup by copying rules from an existing policy before saving your changes.
Prerequisites:
- Subscription to Filter
- Access to Policy Manager
1. Click on Web Filter, then click Policies.
2. Select a desired policy within the Policy Management.
3. Once you click on the desired policy, select Applications and Protocols.
4. Applications and Protocols allow you to Ignore, Monitor, Isolate, or Block various VPN's on a student's device.
Ignore - Ignores the VPN
Monitor - Monitors the VPN activity
Isolate - Students will be restricted from web activity until they remove the VPN (restriction time can be set between 1- 15 mins). The time will reset each time they access the VPN.
Block - Blocks VPN from student
5. Click the Copy Rules From dropdown to copy rules from another policy.
6. Click Save to save all changes.
