After a policy is created or an existing policy is cloned, the behavior of the new policy will need to be defined within Policy Management > Policies > Filter Rules. There are numerous settings available in Filter Rules; this article focuses on the settings in the Preferences section. For guidance on other sections within Filter Rules, please review these knowledge base articles:
Prerequisites

How to Set Preferences for a Policy
1. Log into StudentKeeper.
2. In the left menu, select Web Filter > Policies.
3. Use the filter option to search for the policy.
4. Click the box next to the policy.
5. In the upper-right, click Edit Policy.
6. In the Filter Rules menu, select Preferences.
7. Click the sliders to enable/disable the preferences. A description of each preference is provided below. If you would like to copy the preference settings from another policy and apply them to this one, click the Copy Rules From dropdown in the lower-left of the screen and select the policy that will be copied.
-
- Generate a Blocking Page if URL Blocked: If a student attempts to access a blocked site/webpage, StudentKeeper will display a block page.
- Anonymize Source IP Address in all reports: This removes the original source's IP address from all reports.
- Anonymize Username in all reports: This removes the original source's username from all reports.
- Priority Policy: Enabling this sets the policy as a priority. This policy will be prioritized in instances when multiple policies could apply to the same user, group, or condition.
-
Filter Verification Utility: Enabling this feature allows you to verify the result of a web request for a particular user. (Access can be enabled per policy to allow only authorized user groups to verify policy results.)
-
Authorized users can view the configured policy result for assigned user policies by navigating to verify.contentkeeper.net.
-
8. In the lower-right, click Save. A message will appear at the top of the screen confirming that the policy has been updated.
9. To test the behavior of the policy, impersonate one of the users that has the policy assigned to them. For instructions on how to impersonate a user, refer to this knowledge base article.
