If a new policy needs to be created, and it is very similar to a pre-existing organization policy, as opposed to creating the new policy from scratch, it would be more efficient to clone the pre-existing policy and then apply the minor differences to the clone. Use the steps below to perform this task.
Prerequisites
- Access to Policy Management
How to Clone a Policy
1. Log into StudentKeeper.
2. In the left menu, select Policy Management > Policies.
3. StudentKeeper will display the list of existing policies created by your organization.
4. Use the filter option to search for the existing policy that will be cloned.
5. Click the box next to the policy.
6. In the upper-right, click Clone Policy. (As a note, you can only clone one policy at a time. If you selected more than one policy in the previous step, the Clone Policy option will be grayed out.)
7. Input a Policy Name and Policy Description.
8. If you would like the policy to be active now, toggle the Status button to Active. (If you would like to activate this policy later, you can do so during the editing process.)
9. In the Applied To section, click + Add Group/User/IP Address.
Editing the Policy
1. Use the filter option to search for the clone you created.
2. Click the box next to the clone.
3. In the upper-right, click Edit Policy.
