Note: Please see the Dynamic Safe-Listing Support Overview prior to enabling (DSL)
Dynamic Safe-Listing is a feature designed to intelligently allow access to educational and approved websites while maintaining security and compliance with web filtering policies. It dynamically evaluates web content, ensuring that necessary educational tools, learning platforms, and online resources remain accessible without requiring manual safe-listing by IT administrators.
Here's a good example of how Dynamic Safe-Listing can be used: Configuring the school's LMS (Learning Management System) as the safe-list location enables the filter to scan the school's LMS and automatically allow embedded YouTube or Vimeo videos.
Prerequisites
- Access to Web Filter > Dynamic Safe-Listing, or
- Admin login credentials
How to Enable Dynamic Safe-Listing
1. Log into StudentKeeper.
2. In the left menu, select Web Filter > Dynamic Safe-Listing.
3. Click the button indicated in the image below. You can now add the safe-listing settings.
Safelist Location
4. Click + ADD DOMAIN and type the domain's URL.
5. If more than one domain will be entered, repeat step 4. When done, proceed to the next section.
Allow Safelist Content from These Sources
6. Click + ADD DOMAIN and type the source that will be safe-listed. If a video source is entered here (e.g., YouTube), when a student visits the domain entered in the previous steps and clicks on a video, the video will begin playing as long as the safe-listed source is in the URL.
7. If more than one source will be entered, repeat step 6. When done, proceed to the next section.
URL Cache
8. Determine how long StudentKeeper will retain the URLs in cache.
9. Click Save (lower right corner).
